Jon Decrowns Royals

September 26 vs. Kansas City Royals

Back to the Grind,
or Just Grinded?

Today's Sox cut of meat:
Beef Chuck Arm Steak
Garland, Thome, & Dye with some muscle tonight. The rest to their part.

Short Take:   Garland haters may want to not read this.

Tonight before a decent sized crowd for a late September game between two crap teams, the White Sox brought out their best in their 3-0 win over the now last place Royals.

If tonight is Jon Garland's last start in a White Sox uniform...he went out with a blaze of glory, reminding fans what he brought to a pitching staff that won a World Series just two years ago and underachieved one year ago. Garland's back to back 18 win seasons and model of health are of no concern to some, who would like to see him traded this offseason. While his name is rumored to be on the block, only time and Kenny Williams will have any tell these next five months.

Garland threw a complete game shutout tonight only surrendering three hits to a Royals team that made baby steps to becoming respectable this year. Garland was backed by a solo bomb by Jim Thome in the first inning (his 505th career HR) and a two run home run by Jermaine Dye in the fourth (Which made fellow TBGR writer Chips smile as he knew a free cup of coffee was in store for tomorrow) to give the Sox a 3-0 lead, which actually lasted tonight.

For tonight, the Sox are not in last place. The Sox pick up their 69th win of the year while Garland picks up his 10th win of the season. He should have had more if only we had a bullpen and offense this year. Tomorrow is our final contest with KC. Lance Broadway will make his first major league start tomorrow at 7:11pm.

Back to the Grind Update:
Garland did some grinding all night. Hopefully, the team will back him up next year.
