Timo comes through...for the Tigers

September 5 at Detroit Tigers

Back to the Grind,
or Just Grinded?

Today's Sox cut of meat:
Pork Hocks
Inept offense gets exposed, as it has throughout 2007.

Short Take:   Gavin Floyd turns in a strong outing, but, Sox lose 2-1 in 11 innings.

The Sox were looking to send the Tigers down farther in the AL Central & Wild Card standings, but Timo Perez came through for the Tigers in the bottom of the 11th inning with a long RBI single to score Brandon Inge to eek out a 2-1 win over our last place White Sox.

Gavin Floyd pitched a nice game in his sixth start in a White Sox uniform. Floyd, who only surrendered a one run via a solo shot by Mike Hessman, lasted six innings, striking out six, and giving up six hits.

The Sox lone tally came off the bat of Danny Richar. His solo home run off Kenny "the cheat" Rodgers, was his 4th of the season. The Sox bullpen kept the Tigers off the scoreboard and on base throughout the game. The Tigers left 16 men on base tonight, but it was the Sox who couldn't even get on base. The Sox only had 4 hits in this game and while the bullpen did a nice job, AAA call up Heath Phillips was thrown into the fire in the 11th inning giving up two hits and the winning run.

Tomorrow, the Sox will say goodbye to Comerica Park for 2007. Mark Buehrle will try and grab his 10th win of the year. It's a afternoon start, 12:05pm. Let's sink the Tigers down more boys!

Back to the Grind Update:
 Nothing going tonight.
