119 down, 43 to go!

August 15 at Oakland A's

Back to the Grind,
or Just Grinded?

Today's Sox cut of meat:
Lamb Chops

Short Take: Another abysmal Sox loss brings fans to wonder, why care anymore?

Mark Buehrle deserves better. Aside from a few blow up games this year, Buehrle has been the face of a staff ace that has gone out with his team trying to stay out of last place and pitch like they're trying to move into first.

Tonight was no different. Buehrle gave up three runs but got little support from a team that has now lost four straight and fall to 54-65, 11.5 back in the A.L. Central.

If you were brave enough to stay up late and watch the Sox lose, kudos to you. You may have been wondering, why? Why am I doing this to myself? Well, in (dis)honor of our 11.5 game hole, I will give you 11 1/2 reasons to keep watching our beloved.

11.5) September Call Ups: Don't worry the season is almost over, and in a few weeks you'll be able to see what possible stars we have the future, or what barganing chips Kenny has.

11) On the same page, we already have our youth movement in order. Injuries and lackluster play have brought Jerry Owens, Danny Richar, Gavin Floyd, and Josh Fields to the table to gage which guys are worth sticking with and which guys can be traded!

10) The bullpen has been better. The guys are finally getting outs and holding leads and not letting games get out of reach.

9) Bobby Jenks has been a picture of dominance. Retiring 41 consecutive batters. One more, and Jenks will hold the all time record for consecutive batters retired. Outstanding.

8) Come on, they haven't been AS bad as they were earlier in the summer. Sure, their 15-18 2nd half record is nothing to celebrate, but we haven't been playing as piss poor as we did in June.

7) By the end of the season, Jim Thome should hit his 500th career home run. Granted, his back needs to hold up and not crap out when he swings the bat. Right now, he stands at 490.

6) Halfway to St. Patricks Day is September 14 against the Angels!!! Green beer, funny green hats, and green uniforms should distract you enough to forget about the Sox crap season. Get drunk and have a good time and pretend is actually March 17 gearing up for another season of White Sox baseball.

5) Ozzie has probably got about one more blowup left before the season's over. When will it come? What will it be about? Who will he take out the season on? Watch to find out...

4) Sadly, trying to stay out of last place has been a must since the end of June. The Sox have 10 more games against the Royals this season, 6 are at The Cell. Plenty of games to send the Royals way back in the cellar where they belong.

3) The Sox are not going to make the playoffs this year. That's been established for a long time now. There are some people waiting for a miracle comeback, but that's just stupid. It's time to go out in a blaze of glory. The Sox have 12 games left against the Tigers and Indians. Let's make them piss their pants while they try to capture the A.L. Central title

2) In the meanwhile, try and get back to .500. The Sox haven't been at .500 since their June 1 win against the Blue Jays which brought them to 25-25. The Sox haven't finished under .500 since their 75-86 record in 1999. That is a streak worth keeping up.

1) Because you're a fan damn it! While this season is unacceptable to Sox fans, blow up seasons like this do happen, we all know they happen more often here than in other places, but the White Sox will regain championship form. Until then, GO SOX! As always...

Tried to come back in the 8th, couldn't get it done. Story of the season.
