Sox split series with Brewers

March 30th, from the Associated Press

Ray Durham homered and drove in four runs, leading the Chicago White Sox to a 12-6 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday.

Ray Durham and Kenny Lofton pound fists after Durham's homer in the first.

Chicago scored twice in the first inning on a leadoff triple by Kenny Lofton and Durham's fifth home run of the spring. Durham, who was 3-for-3 with two walks, added a two-run single in the second for a 4-0 lead.

Milwaukee's Paul Bako, recently acquired in a trade with Atlanta, hit a grand slam off Jon Rauch to tie it in the second.

The White Sox quickly replied with four runs, three unearned, in the third against Jamey Wright (0-3) and three in the fifth against Mike Buddie in a rally capped by Jose Valentin's two-run single.

Royce Clayton of the White Sox had three hits, including a solo home run in the sixth.

Milwaukee's Jose Hernandez had a solo homer in the third.

Reliever Mitch Wylie (2-0) was the winning pitcher. He replaced Rauch in the second and allowed two runs on two hits in 2 2-3 innings.
