WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

Another blown game...

June 20 vs. Flordia Marlins

Back to the Grind,
or Just Grinded?

Today's Sox cut of meat:
Dog food.
Total ****!

Short Take:   A new losing streak started as a nice outing by Jon Garland is wasted, this time by Bobby Jenks.

More of the same. It was a wonderful afternoon at The Cell today where our Sox were trying to do something they haven't done since the end of a freakin' series. Well, thanks to a bullpen blowup (again) and non clutch hitting (again) the Sox fall, 5-4.

The Marlins took a 1-0 lead early on against Garland but that would be all Jon would serve up. After a two out walk to Jermaine Dye in the fourth inning, Rob Mackowiak drove Dye in with a RBI single. Next batter Josh Fields drove in Mackowiak with a double giving our Sox a 2-1 lead. A lead which Garland held through seven strong innings.

No matter what Ozzie does though this year, it always blows up in his face. Instead of going for hacks like Ryan Bukvich, David Aardsma, or Mike MacDougal, Ozzie brought in Bobby Jenks for a two inning save. Jenks, who has been the most reliable Sox reliever of the year, found it was his turn to be the goat giving up four runs in the final two innings. It's not like the Sox didn't help the cause. Juan Uribe botched a double play ball in the eighth, and threw a ball away.

The offense is also to fault. Besides for scoring only two runs off "the great" Sergio Mitre, the bats had a golden opportunity in the eighth with runners on second and third with no outs, but would score only one run on a bases loaded walk. Hoo-ray!

All in all, it was another pathetic, lifeless, embarrassing showing for the Sox this afternoon as they fall a full 10 games under .500 with a record of 29-39, 11 1/2 out of first. With a offday tomorrow, the Sox will gear up to settle the crosstown showdown part two. Mark Buerhle and that crazy ass Carlos Zambrano will duke it out Friday afternoon starting at 3:05pm.
