WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

The Adventure Continues

June 12, Sox at Philly

Back to the Grind,
or Just Grinded?

Today's Sox cut of meat:
Arby's Popcorn Chicken

Short Take: The First Inning

You've decided to stay around for the game and you're not regretting it. You have a cold beer in your hand and the sky is clear, the humidity is low and you couldn't be happier.

The Sox come up to bat. Iguchi leads off the inning. Pitches come and go, you hap hazardly pay attention as Iguchi flies out to his old teammate Aaron Rowand. No biggie deal you think to yourself, the Sox haven't hit much all season. You flag down a hot dog vendor and before you know it, the Sox have two outs. What is this nonsense?

PK wanders up to the mound and looks takes a few pitches. To your surprise, both pitches are balls. Then suddenly, you leap from your seat and follow the ball from the second it hit the bat. It lands in the seats for a home run and the Sox have a 1-0 lead

Their first runs in what seems like an eternity, Dye follows up Konerko's long shot with a solo jack of his own. The Sox are up 2-0 and a feeling of joy crosses across your face

A quick trip to the bathroom and Contreras is on the mound ready to help his guys get their 28th win. He starts out okay and quickly there is one down, but a single, a stolen base and a walk later has left your stomach feeling sick.

No big deal, Howard strikes out, but a passed ball allows runners to advance. The crowd goes wild as Rowand comes to the plate. Thought for him playing for the Sox again crosses your mind. The acid fades away and he's got a 2-2 count on him.

What does Jose do? He hits him with a damn pitch and the bases are juiced for Dobbs. He singles and just like that the Sox are losing 3-2.

You have a few choices, you can continue on and watch the second inning; leave the game early and hit up the fancy Philly nightlife; or take a turn down an unknown path.
