Zambozo's Circus Is Off the Air!

May 20 at Chicago Cubs

Back to the Grind,
or Just Grinded?

Today's Sox cut of meat:
Polish sausage
Pierzynski's slam put the Cubs on the back burner.

Short Take: Nick Massett comes up big-time in his major league debut!

Turnaround, bright-eyes! This game went back-and forth until Dennis the Menace stepped up! Final Score: Sox 10, Cubs 6.

I guess it’s never easy on Sunday. Nick started off a bit shaky in the first. After getting Ryan what’s-his-face out, he issued consecutive walks to Pagan and Soriano. Ramirez made the second out, but some guy we never heard of got a hit (typical!), and it was 1-0 Flubs. Michael Barrett—you remember him; the guy who loves to sucker-punch folks—made the third out. In the top of two, we showed signs of life. Dye popped up, then Paulie walked. Three straight hits—Mack, Crede, and Uribe—set the table, and a sac bunt from Massett got it done. At the end of two, Sox led 2-1. A home run off the bat of Jermaine Dye in the third made it 3-1 Good Guys!

Stayed that way until the bottom of six when, after two outs, Soriano tripled, Ramirez walked, and Derrek Lee also walked. Sox 3, Cubs 2.

Then in the top of seven, all hell broke loose. (If you are a Cub fan, you might want to leave the room at this point.) Two outs, and Uribe was HBP. Thome came in and walked, Erstad got a hit, Gooch walked, and up stepped Dennis the Menace. GRAND SLAM!—WOO-HOO—and we were up 10-2. As it should be.

Sheesh! Only the seventh inning? Looked like we could cruise from there, but no! In the bottom of eight, Ramirez hits a three-run homer. Some other Cub loser also scored a run somehow and it was 10-6. Top nine, we went down in order. Bad Bobby came in to pitch the bottom, and the rest is rock-and-roll!

Back to the Grind Update:
Grinders were AJ, Pablo, and especially Nick Massett, who made a stellar debut.

The Grand Slam was nice, sure--but ya gotta love him hitting a foul tip off Barrett!
