Another day, another loss

September 26 at Cleveland Indians

How was the trophy defended today?
It wasn't.

Short Take:  No life left after being eliminated last night as C.C. Sabathia and Javier Vazquez have a stike out contest. But, Indians continue to pound our Sox.

Can someone please just end this season already becuase it sure as hell looks like the Sox are already thinking about their offseason homes and golf swings. One night after being eliminated and on the day when most Sox fans got their 2006 playoff tickets Ozzie was unable to wake his dead in Cleveland against Big Boy himself C.C. Sabathia. The Indians were able to pound Javier Vazquez for six runs in tonight's 6-0 loss dispite Javier's twelve strike outs. But really, who cares?

As the season nears an end Sox fans are going to be able to see "the future" in the starting lineups. Tonight, Josh Fields started in Jim Thome's spot as the DH, and the "the past," Sandy Alomar Jr. took a visit to his old stomping grounds as tonights starting catcher. Neither of them could provide any spark to a completly lifeless Sox team that was only able to muster up four hits against Sabathia in his eight innings of work.

Sabathia struck out eleven Sox hitters "outdueling" Javier Vazquez who surrendered two three spots to the "experts" predicted 2006 A.L. Central Champs. Babe, err... Ryan Garko accounted for five of the six runs for the Tribe tonight highlighted by his two out three run home run in the sixth inning.

The loss puts the Sox record at 87-71. If there's anything to play for the final four games of 2006 is hopefully a 90-win season to take away some of pain and frustration. That seems like a tall task for this group right now. Tomorrow, there will still be baseball played. Brandon McCarthy will make his first start of the season trying to impress Ozzie for a likely opening spot in 2007's rotation. Game time is 6:05pm and the game will be televised on WCIU.
