WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

The Sox Lull the Tribe into a False Sense of Security (hopefully!)

June 1st vs Cleveland Indians

How was the trophy defended today?
It wasn't

Sox's offense falters again.

Game four of this four-game set featured the Soxís Jose Contreras against the Tribeís Paul Byrd. And the game started out on a positive note, when Scottie Pods walked, followed by Tadahito Iguchi doubling to center. A sac fly off the bat of Jim Thome scored Pods and sent Gooch to third. Unfortunately, the scoring stopped there, when Jermaine Dye grounded out and AJ Pierzynski popped up. Still, after the top half of inning #1, Sox led 1-0. Unfortunately, the lead would not hold up: Final score Toons 12, Good Guys 8.

The bottom of the first was all about Cleveland, as the Tribe took a 2-1 lead, playing small ball. Things stayed even in the second, but then in the top of three, the Sox answered back. Scottie walked and promptly stole second. A walk by Gooch was followed by a Jim Thome double which scored Pods and moved Thome to third. He scored on a Jermaine Dye homer, and the score stood at 5-2 Good Guys.

The Tribe came back with one in the third, and thatís where it stayed until the Cleveland 6th, when the Tribe scored four runs and the score stood at 7 to 5. Sox got back on top on a three-run homer by Dye. Going into the bottom of the 7th, the score was 8-7 Sox. Unfortunately, we had to let the Tribe bat again. Four runs in the bottom of the frame made it 11-8 Cleveland. In the bottom of the 8th, a homer by Ben Broussard (who?) made it 12-8, and thatís where it ended.
