WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

Downing the Angels...again!

April 29 at Los Angeles Angles of Anaheim

How was the trophy defended today?
Contreras brillant again!

Short Take:  Sox win a one run thriller!

The last time Jose Contreras lost a start was August 15, 2005 against the Minnesota Twins. Coming into tonights game against the Angels he has won 11 straight games and Jose made it twelve with a dominating performace tonight with the Sox 2-1 win.

While the Angels and their fans were seeking revenge against A.J. and our Sox, Jose Contreras was throwing darts to the Angel hitters. The game started off with a little bean ball action by Kelvin Escobar. He plunked A.J. Pierzynski which set off the home plate umpire to warn both benches. Like clockwork, Angels manager Mike Schosia came out to argue the warning, but that didn't do much but delay the game.

The Sox struck back in the fourth. The red-hot Jermaine Dye hit an RBI single scoring Tadahito Iguchi making it a 1-0 Sox lead. Later on in the sixth, Jim Thome belted his tenth home run of the young season. It was a bomb to center field off the first pitch from Brendon Donnally making it 2-0 White Sox.

The Angels made it close in their half of the sixth, Orlando Caberia hit a double which scored Chone Figgans to cut the Sox lead 2-1. While the Angels put up a fight in the ninth, Jose, Matt Thorton, and Bobby Jenks closed the door on the game.

The win puts the Sox record at 16-7 on the season and tomorrow, dare it be said...the Sox go for the sweep of the Angels in Anaheim. Jon Garland will try and follow to masterful start by Jose. Game time is 2:35pm and the game will be televised on Comcast Sports Net.
