WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

Let's WAKE WAKE UP, White Sox!

April 7th at Kansas City Royals

How was the trophy defended today?
It wasn't

Short Take: More sloppy play against a division rival makes for a "White Sox loser."

Well, this game was a real pleasure to watch--for the first four innings, anyway. The Sox opened up with a five-run first. Garland looked like he was in the groove. At the end of one, Good Guys 5, Royals 0. The Sox expanded the lead to 6-0 after three. But then the wheels came off as the Royals put up a five-spot in the bottom of the 4th. The Sox scored a run in the top of the 5th to make it 7-5, and it looked like our guys were back on track. Then came bottom five, and the dreaded leadoff walk. That was followed by a couple of scratch hits, a wild pitch, and a sac fly. When the dust cleared, it was Royals 7, Sox 7.

Top 6th. Jon was still in. He struck out the first batter, but the next guy up singled and a double to right gave the Royals the lead. Garland came out and Thornton came in. Iím not sure what happened after that as my lifeline (Extra Innings) crashed, but somehow, KC got the lead. KC 9, Sox 7. The Sox went down in order in the top of 7 and in the bottom, the Royals struck again. After getting the leadoff batter out, Thornton walked Brown on four pitches. Brown went to third on a pickoff play gone awry, and it just got worse from there. Because I am a kindly person, I will mercifully spare you the--as Paul Harvey says-rest of the story, but the final score--KC 11, Sox 7--tells you all you want--or donít want--to know.

Bright spot: If this isnít a wake-up call, Iíve never seen one. Gentlemen, anytime you want to show up and start the 2006 repeat season, feel free.

Ozzieball Update:
Tonight, nothing seemed to work. Pretty sure Ozzie will be holding a team meeting soon..
