WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

Pure Domination!

May 20 at Cubs

How many Grinders did KW use today:
"Crede and Dye launched solo HR's, Pods and Iguchi got things going, Konerko and AJ keep hitting with RBIs, and Freddy Garcia wipes the floor with the Cubs!"

Short Take:  Freddy Garcia shuts the Cubs down and the Sox pound out 10 hits in this 5-1 victory to take the first of this weekends crosstown showdown!

Freddy Garcia set the tone early by drilling Derek Lee in the 1st inning then getting Jeremy Burnitz to fly out to leave Lee right at first base. The Sox came out and brought it against the north siders and their starter Greg Maddux who suffered the same fate as he did last year against the Pale Hose!

Sloppy play by the Cubs in the 3rd inning would let the Sox draw first blood. Joe Crede reached on a error by "the savior" Derek Lee and he advanced to second when Freddy Garcia layed down a nice sac bunt. Scott Podsednik singled which scored Crede to make 1-0 Sox!

The game stayed at 1-0 until the 5th inning when Joe Crede lead off and hit a solo home run that made it 2-0 Sox. Podsednik came up with one out and hit a bunt single that he beat the throw out. Tadahito Iguchi hit a single that advanced Podsednik to second. Paul Konerko hit a RBI single that scored Podsednik and the next batter AJ Pierzynski followed it up with his own RBI single that scored Iguchi.

The Cubs would get on board today, Henry Blanco reached base on Iguchi's error and he scored when Jerry Hairston Jr. singled. But the Sox got that run back when Jermaine Dye hit his 7th home run of the season to make it 5-1 Sox.

Thats how the game stayed. Freddy Garcia said goodbye to his last two ugly starts and pitched a wonderful game by shutting the Cubs down. The run the Cubs scored wasn't earned and he gave up five hits in the seven innings of work.

The Sox improve to 30-12 on the 2005 season and look to take two in the first crosstown battle of 2005. Jose Contreras (1-1 3.52ERA) against Carlos Zambrano. (3-2 4.09ERA) It will be a good game and first pitch is at 12:20pm and it will be televised nationally on FOX.

Ozzieball Update:
Sac bunts advanced the runners, timely hits lead to RBI's, keep it going Sox!
