Who sells tickets? Kruk clueless.

filed by George Bova

May 4. 2005

Nobody can be very surprised that the talking heads on ESPN's Baseball Tonight have no clue about the Chicago White Sox. They never spend much time discussing Chicago's "other" team or for that matter any baseball team west of the Alleghenies. To hear them tell it, nothing west of the Alleghenies much matters in the world of baseball.

Maybe that's why nobody west of the Alleghenies watches the show?

So it was both revealing and not very surprising that former player, current mediot, and full-time dope John Kruk would get what's left of his shorts in an uproar about Tuesday night's game at Sox Park.

The focus of the show wasn't the first place Sox, or their come from behind victory, or even their record-breaking performance with 26 consecutive games of leading in the game. What was the focus? Dual-baserunning gaffes by Everett and Iguchi (they showed that "highlight" twice) and a long rant by John Kruk about attendance.

Auditioning for a sports mediot job in Chicago, John?

So let's remind John, as we've futilely reminded the Chicago sports mediots for years at this website, that White Sox fans aren't the ones responsible for selling tickets. That's the job of the Chicago White Sox. Fielding a winning team certainly helps sell tickets, but there is another outfit in town putting out a product that embraces losing baseball and they have little trouble filling the seats with complete idiots -- some of them traveling all the way from Iowa on a bus just for the privilege of joining the festival of losing.

Chicago has no problem supporting baseball provided it's losing baseball? The White Sox can't sell tickets better than these dopes?

Time to pin the tail on the right donkey, Mr. Kruk.

It's a bad reflection on CHICAGOANS that Sox Park isn't filled to watch a first place team.

It's a bad reflection on the WHITE SOX that they can't figure out a way to successfully sell winning baseball like others successfully sell losing baseball.

Don't blame the victim for this mess. The victims are Sox Fans because only Sox Fans in Chicago bother to support winning baseball.

John Kruk, get a clue!

Sox Fans, at least WSI will stick up for you. Clearly nobody else will.
