No Giambi apology for Frank, Chicago sports mediots mum

filed by George Bova

February 11. 2005

Yesterday afternoon the New York Yankees held a press conference for their admitted steroid-using ballplayer, the 2000 American League MVP.  Jason Giambi was caught by the law in the form of the grand jury investigating the illegal doping conducted at Balco Laboratories.  Presented with irrefutable evidence, he came clean last December because the consequences of lying further were far worse.  Barry Bonds coped the same plea, albeit with the laughable excuse that he had no idea what Balco was giving him was steroids.

It's open to debate why the Yankees would shove their fallen star in front of cameras to apologize for nothing he would specify and thus start an even bigger fire storm over what Giambi is hiding after his grand jury testimony.  Suffice to say the Yankees must have their reasons, just as Giambi has his reasons for admitting to nothing involving the "s" word.

What is totally inexcusable is how the Chicago angle to this New York press conference was completely missed by the idiots who comprise the Chicago sports media.  At best it is nothing less than complete incompetence on their part.  At worst it is another manifestation of the utter contempt they feel towards Sox Fans and the Chicago White Sox, perhaps for having been proven complete fools for licking the boots of Sammy Sosa all these years, another fallen idol they compliantly allowed to cheat and fraud Chicago's sports fans.  All in the name of bigger ratings and bigger circulation for themselves...

So here again White Sox Interactive must point out for these idiots that it was Jason Giambi's doping that undoubtedly provided the Cheat's winning margin in the 2000 American League MVP voting over local star Frank Thomas.  Jason Giambi didn't apologize to anyone in New York yesterday.  Is too much for the Chicago media to rise in righteous indignation and declare, "Hey Jason, what about Frank Thomas and the 2000 MVP award?"  A review of Friday's papers says WSI is alone again.

Not Rick Morrisey.  Not Mike Downey.  Not Teddy Greenstein.  Not Phil Rogers.  Not Ed Sherman.  Not Paul Sullivan.  Not Dave Van Dyck.

Not Rick Telander.  Not Greg Couch.  Not Doug Padilla.  Not Toni Ginnetti.  Not Chris De Luca.

Not even Arvia, Cowley, Ladewski, or Rozner.

And as for that windsock moron at the Sun-Times, fired last month from WMVP?  Don't make me laugh...

Maybe this list of buffoons will finally catch up with the story in Saturday's or Sunday's editions.  Hope springs eternal for Sox Fans...

One thing for sure:  they're already two full months behind White Sox Interactive.  We raised this same issue back in December  when news first broke of Giambi's confession to the grand jury.  Maybe the Chicago sports mediots have filled two months worth of column-inches covering the NHL lockout???

Sox Fans, White Sox Interactive doesn't even charge you two bits to look out for your interests.  This is just the latest proof nobody else in this town will do it for you.  And we toss in the attitude for free, too.

Given that we share this town with idiots like these, who can blame us for having an attitude?

Have a thought about this
