More Magglio Crocodile Tears!

filed by George Bova

February 6. 2005

The Chicago media spent most of an entire week ignoring the Sox while devoting wall to wall coverage to a fake hero finally torn down by the same cheats who once built him up.  Even the Cubune's media critic got in the act, ripping on former WGN announcer Steve Stone for having the temerity to note that the videotape of Sammy Sosa leaving the ballpark early would never have been made public if Sammy had still been hitting the ball.  Hey Ed Sherman, if Stone wasn't speaking the truth, why don't you explain what ever happened to the barrel end of that broken corked bat that mysteriously disappeared somewhere inside Wrigley Field?  It was never found.

These people have no shame...

So with the Sham finally out of town, it was inevitable the local stories would turn back to ripping on the Sox.  Magglio Ordonez is reportedly heading to Detroit, but not without taking a few more swipes at the Sox.

Some columnist for The Dim One obliged Magglio with twenty inches of free advertising.  A real reporter would have asked these questions, but the collective wisdom of people who pay to read The Dim One has never been very high.  They remain dim thanks to this columnist's laughable stab at sports journalism.

Why would Magglio not give any team, least of all the Sox he claims to still love, a chance to examine his injured knee?  The Dim One's readers have no clue.

Why would Magglio think Sox Fans should still love him after publicly playing footsie with the bunch from the other side of town?  The Dim One's readers are clueless.

Why would Magglio cancel the workout he announced he would conduct last December?  The subject was never even asked on behalf of The Dim One's readers.

Why would The Dim One's columnist characterize Magglio as "loyal and selfless" as he quoted Magglio ripping the organization again?  Could the columnist have quoted anything by the Sox ripping on Magglio?  Of course not.  Kenny Williams and everyone else in the Sox organization hasn't said anything but positive things about Magglio.

Only dim readers of the The Dim One could miss that last point.  WSI readers sure didn't.

Have a thought about this
