The game featured eight homers, including two by Chicago's Jose Valentin.

Norton went 3-for-3 with two runs and four RBIs, while Ben Petrick had two doubles, two triples, four runs and two RBIs for Colorado.

The White Sox had a two-run homer by Frank Thomas in the first and a solo shot by Valentin in the second, both off Mike Hampton (2-0).

Colorado came back with three runs in the third off Mark Buehrle (0-2), who gave up three more runs in the fifth.

``I didn't do a good job,'' Buehrle said. ``The last couple of innings I started falling behind guys. You can't pitch in the big leagues falling behind guys.''

Chicago took a 7-6 lead in fifth as Valentin hit his second home run of the game, a two-run blast.

Mark Little had a three-run homer in the sixth as the Rockies scored five times to chase Buehrle.

Colorado added four more runs in the eighth inning as Todd Helton and Norton both homered off Gary Glover.
