Crazy about the Sox!

by Sox Fan Logan Hard

Caution: for those who recoil in horror at any sign of written optimism like a vampire to garlic please stop reading now.

If you are however an open minded fan who lets the actions of season dictate how you feel about the White Sox and live day by day, or aren't one of the apparent many fans who can see through time and already know the future please read on.

Woo Hoo! White Sox 2004 Baby!!

The above statement, blasphemy for some, is how I'm feeling right now as 2004 begins..

I seem to be one of a dying breed of optimistic White Sox fans. Not only a dying breed but a group looked down upon by some, I'll never understand that but hey, I'm crazy.

The one question I always hear in the fight for optimism is this:

What is there to be optimistic about?

When people describe the plight of the Sox today, they're always quick to compare it to the glory days of the past, whatever days those may be for you. Always saying how they wish the Sox would do this or that from the past. I say next time you're you thinking about the past try to remember some thing else. Try and remember your days as a child as a Sox fan.  Remember how you felt when an upcoming Sox season was approaching when you were a kid? You didn't care about money or ownership. You just wanted to go to the game with your family and watch baseball. That was it. What is there to be optimistic about? How about another season of baseball from your favorite team? That's how I feel. I would love to know how that is not enough, but again, I'm Crazy.

Everybody is over thinking the situation. It's just baseball. It's an escapist form of entertainment and I can't get enough of it no matter what.

That's my answer for why I'm optimistic.

I hope I never go to the ballpark and hear a 6 year old complaining more about ownership then his lack of ice cream or cotton candy, but as I've mentioned, I'm crazy

I'm already anticipating the response to this article with people saying telling me to "take off the blinders" or "take off the rose colored glasses" and that I'm acting like a cubs fan for being excited for the 2004 season. Whatever, I didn't know it was a crime to cheer for my team.

You Might as well just lock me up right now for a life sentence, because, I will always be excited for White Sox baseball.

That's just my opinion, but remember I'm....Well, you know.
