WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

Winning Easy!

July 25 vs Tampa Bay

Today's temperature:
"8 in a row. This non-tinkering stuff really works. Nice big cushion allows Jerry to rest the important bullpen pitchers and give some work to Wunsch and Glover. Good thing too, because the Sox are going to need them or someone else aside from Gordon and Marte."

Short Take: Sox Dig The Long Ball!

  • The days of corpseball and getting shelled continue to fade into the rearview mirror for Sox fans and happy days are here again! The White Sox exact their revenge on those pesky Devil Rays with a 7-2 thumping tonight at US Cellular Field. Aside from some moron getting his kicks by dumping a brew on Rocco Baldelli's head (in a blatant case of alcohol abuse) there's not a lowlight to be had. The 'Hose pick up their 8th win in a row and have Hawk Harrelson getting ready for the Flowbee.
  • I'm starting to sound like a broken record here, but it can be said for the 13th time this year: Estaban Loaiza is a machine. E Lo picks up the win and improves to 13-5 pitching 6 plus strong innings. Although he only struck out 2 batters and gave up an unusually high 8 hits,we can deal with that! Kelly Wunsch makes his return from the DL and looks to be right back to form mopping up the 7th inning. Gary Glover sprays some WD40 on his arm to get the rust off and makes a rare relief appearance to finish the game off for the boys in pinstripes.
  • But tonight belonged to Frank Thomas. The Big Hurt blasts his 400th career round tripper and his 24th of the season into his favorite spot over the bullpen in left field, sending the crowd into a frenzy and even earning a certain media-hating WSI member some free air time on TV waving his 400 sign. The Frank Thomas club keeps adding more and more members and all the Frank hating boobirds who seemed to be everywhere at the ballpark last season have flown the coop!
  • Big Frank wasn't alone in the offense category tonight though. Magglio Ordonez started the scoring in the 1st inning with a 2 run double (sure is nice when he hits one of those instead of into a double play, eh?) and Carl Everett, who continues to find his groove in a Sox uniform, clubs a single to bring Magglio home. With all the hoopla about Frank's milestone blast in the 5th, let's not forget Carlos Lee hit a 2 run homer just before that. Carlos can hit all the homers he wants, at least it keeps him from goofing up on the basepaths. Miguel Olivo proves he's no lineup hole (at least not tonight) with an RBI single.
  • Sox face the Devil rays again tomorrow at US Cellular with a 6:05 start. 22,000 showed up tonight--come on, we can do better than that! Mike Porzio takes the hill against Rob Bell.

Tinkerer Update:
Can you believe it? Same lineup as last night!
