Indian Burned!

July 11th vs Cleveland

Today's temperature:
"Damn, this team better win something soon or my ass is gonna get fried."

Short Take: It doesn't get any crummier than this!

Sox fans, remember the glorious days of late June? Taking 2 out of 3 from the Cubs TWICE in a week and then sweeping the Twins? Those truly were the good old days, and are quickly becoming forgotten. The White Sox lose their 4th game in a row, falling to the Cleveland Indians 12-5. Last week at this time, Sox fans were abuzz with dreams of vaulting into first place..but as the 'Hose drop to 1-6 on their current road trip, it's all we can do to not slip BELOW the Indians and into 4th place in the AL Central.

For most of the season, Sox pitching has been at the very least respectable. But that's never the case with Danny Wright on the mound. "Big Dan" is jusg big and bad, and I can;t remember him having one decent outing since he came off the disabled list. Danny couldn't find the strike zone if he were using the Hubble Space Telescope! Wright doesn't even make it out of the 3rd inning, giving up 6 runs and walking 4. If ANYONE on this site has a reason why this slug should stay in the lineup, feel free to drop me a line. Otherwise, I'd like to see him on the next bus to Charlotte, or at the very least, the bullpen. Things didn't get any better with the Sox supposed crack bullpen swinging into action. Rick White, David Sanders and Billy Koch each manage to give up 2 runs in their relief duty, effectively squelching the Sox feeble attempts at mounting a rally. You know it's a bad night when Cleveland's Ben Broussard comes into the game with 10 career homers and increases that total by 20% over the course of ONE GAME. Is it time for this team to switch to a 3 man rotation and hope that Loaiza, Colon and Buerhle just pitch complete games every outing? That's not an option obviously, so what's to be done?

The Sox offense kinda sorta in a way showed up tonight, notching more runs today than in their entire series against the Tigers. But when your opposition seems to score at will, it doesn't do any iota of good. Of all people, Paul Konerko notched an RBI double to start the Sox scoring off. Joe Crede, Frank Thomas and Magglio Ordonez all put up multiple hits, but it does no good at all. Newcomer "Jurassic" Carl Everett adds one hit, but also manages to leave FIVE men on base, grounding out at the most inopportune times.

The Sox and Tribe play a double dip day night doubleheader tomorrow. Mark Buehrle faces Jason Stanford (one ML game appearance, which means he'll baffle Sox bats) in the early game, with freshly recalled Mike Porzio squaring off against Jake Westbrook in the nightcap.

Tinkerer Update:
Graffy plays 2nd and leads off, Lee bats 2nd, Konerko plays 1B, Thomas at DH.

Magglio Ordonez

3 hits and 1 RBI, enough to be tonight's tallest midget.
