WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

It takes twelve to avoid the sweep

May 25th vs.Detroit Tigers

"Thank all that is holy we pulled that one off !"

Long battle with the Tiggers pays off

  • The Sox get another decent outing by a young starting pitcher, only to have the bullpen squander the lead,Danny Wright gave up 3 runs in 7 innings,2 of the runs scored via solo homeruns,he also struck out seven.
  • Kelly Wunsch imploded in the 8th innning, for the first time this season,he faced three hitters, giving up a double,a walk, and a HBP,Tom Gordon managed to get out of the inning after giving up the tying run on a sac fly.
  • Magglio Ordonez continued his hitting streak to 10 games, and Paul Konerko extended his streak of grounding into a double play to god only knows how many games, way to many anyway.
  • Joe Borchard had a good day both at the plate and in the outfield,it was a pleasant surprise to see a Sox center fielder that understands the basics of playing the position, and get a good jump off the bat on anything hit remotely close to him, something not see here since Chris Singleton left town.
  • The Sox got their first lead off this whole series from Carlos Lee's moonshot grand slam in the fifth, while hitting in the two hole in the line-up,betcha that doesn't last long.
  • There was a decent crowd at the ballpark, even though this team had already lost the series to the lowly Tiggers,a lot of people must like gawking at train wrecks.
  • The Sox board a plane for a trip to Toronto for a memorial day tilt with the Blue Jays, hopefully Jerrry Manuel will miss the plane.

WSI's
Tinkerer Update:
Paul Konerko got to sit and watch till he pinch hit in the eighth, and Carlos Lee was moved to the two hole in the order.
