WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

Corpseball in Seattle

May 11 2003 Sox at Seattle Mariners

Today's temperature:
"Is it just me or is it getting kinda warm around here?"

Short Take:This team lacks any fire.

  • Mark Buehrle sure didn't look like a guy who should be demanding a big money long term contract,as he had trouble finding the plate for the entire five innings he pitched, and what he did mange to get over the plate got hit hard.He did accomplish two things things,he managed to walk a career high six batters, and he stayed in the game long enough to get credited with the loss.Anyone think he might be having second thoughts about turning down a four year multi million dollar contract now?
  • Can the Willie Harris experiment in center field end anytime soon? Willie managed to prove to the world why he has no business wandering around in center at the MLB level. Of course, on the bright side he makes up for his lack of defense by not being able to hit either, making him a well rounded player if he look at it from the right perspective. The only thing he does well is lose his batting helmet while getting thrown out at first base
  • The sox bats have proven to be afraid of lettuce,Jamie Moyer was out there throwing salad for seven innigs and the Sox bats made sure they stayed away from it.This is a team that is supposed to be able to whoop on soft tossers, not get made to look like fools against them. The only well hit ball was a Frank Thomas home run in the fifth, and before that Thomas looked more confused than anything else.
  • Mike Cameron continued his Sox killing ways, going deep in the sixth inning.Seems kind of like a curse that the only team this guy dominates is his former team, good thing Royce went to the National League.
  • Rick White was his familar underwhelming self, proving once again that he should have never come north with the team out of spring training. Can you spell B-R-U-T-A-L Sox fans? Sure you can.
  • The next good move Gary Ward makes will be his first, because the Sox offense has been terrible for this entire road trip, with the exception of one good game in Oakland, think Gary has pictures of someone doing something they shouldn't,it would be the only reason he continues to be around
  • The good news is we will not have to deal with a Sox loss tomorrow,as it is an off day before the welcome the Baltimore Orioles to Chicago, aside from Loaiza throwing on Tuesday the other starters are TBA,when did the Sox trade for him?
  • WSI's
    Tinkerer Update:
Jose Valentin got to ride the pine today so that Tony G. could boot a ground ball at SS.
