WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

Clueless in Chicago!

May 3rd Vs. Seattle

Today's temperature:
"The team is lifeless, hitless, clueless and leaderless at the moment. Is there anywhere to go but up?"

Short Take: Sad Sox get shelled by Seattle - fall to .500.

Does it get an worse then this? I know Seattle has a solid baseball team, but supposedly so do the Sox. Unfortunately, only one of those teams is exceeding expectations this year and equally bad for Sox fans it isn't our team. This game was over real fast, so... how come it took so long to play? Ultimately it didn't matter as the M's stormed off to a 6-0 lead after an inning and a half and won going away 12-2.

In what is becoming routine for him against his former team, Mike Cameron was a one man wrecking crew. Last night on the one year anniversary of his 4 homer game, Mike missed hitting for the cycle by a triple. Not to worry, by the end of 2 at bats and two innings, Mike had another homer, the missing triple, all 6 Seattle RBI's and the right to be walked forever more when playing in Chicago in early May. The Sox did just that 2 out of the next 4 times he batted and managed to strike him out twice to boot, but at that point it was just too late. The Sox never did manage to do any serious damage on offense the first run coming when they were losing 10-0 in the 5th. Josh Stewart lasted 3.2 innings, but could have been pulled much sooner and the bullpen didn't fare much better. Still the lopsided score didn't stop Jerry Manuel from using 4 different relievers on a night when he could have let Brian Daubach pitch and why not, he wasn't doing much at the plate and his questionable defense in the second inning didn't help matters allowing Camerons line drive to roll all the way to the wall on the aforementioned triple.

Kelly Wunsch continued his scoreless string but Billy Koch gave up another couple of runs in mop-up duty. Damaso Marte worked the final inning striking out all three batters he faced thus intensifying the already strong "closer controversy". Armando Rios and Joe Crede each had solo home runs, but otherwise the Sox were flat - missing an opportunity to pick up a game on the whole central division. Bartolo Colon goes on Sunday as the Sox try to salvage a win and some pride. Hopefully there's some left to salvage...

Tinkerer Update:
Harris batting second, Maggs not even playing. Daubach in right, Valentin batting 5th, starting to get the picture? It was a tinkerer's special and it DID NOT WORK! One has to wonder if Jerry is just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks...

Joe Crede

Well it has to be someone and he hit a homer...
