WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

Wunsch whooped!

September 27 at Minnesota

Stress Relief Odometer

Today's Mileage:
"Blowing up a 95-win division champion team can be awfully stressful!"

Totally Biased
Series Update

Short Take:  Two-run dinger in eighth seals Sox fate.

  • The Sox reach three games over .500, so is losing such a bad thing?  This team is nothing if not mediocre.  Sox lose 3-1 at Minnesota.  The outcome was pretty meaningless.
  • Jon Rauch looked very sharp.  He was solid through seven innings.  He allowed just one run and got nothing for the effort because Sox bats were slumbering.
  • Kudos to Kelly Wunsch for giving up a two-run homer in the eighth inning but only getting charged for one.  The inherited runner Gary Glover gave him was also the winning run for Minnesota.  Wunsch ought to consider sitting on the far end of the bus from Glover riding back to the hotel.
  • Magglio Ordonez tagged that goofy looking jerk Joe Mays with an rbi single in the first inning to spot the Sox a 1-0 lead.  The Sox never scored again.
  • The key to the game probably came in the second inning when the Sox had runners at first and third and nobody out, but couldn't score.  Thank you Miguel Olivo, D'Angelo Jimenez, and Jose Valentin for reminding us Sox Fans that humility is our lot in life.
  • Carlos Lee was a scratch and will miss the last three games.  His wife is expecting so he thinks his vacation starts early.  As a first-time dad, he'll learn otherwise very quickly.
  • Mark Buehrle goes for win #20 in front of a national audience Saturday afternoon.  Let's see if the Sox have the chutzpah to cut their salary offer to him again next winter, too.

Tinkerer Update:
Jeff Liefer is back at 1B, Harris starts in CF, and Rowand moves to LF.
