September 26 vs. Boston

Today's Mileage:
"Blowing up a 95-win division champion team can be awfully stressful!"

Know Your Enemy!

Totally Biased
Series Update

Short Take:  A high note to end the home schedule.

  • The home portion of the Sox' season is over.  It was a meaningless matinee, but winning always feels lots better than losing, so who's complaining?  The 2002 Sox win 3-2 and hit the road, never to come back.  Okay, don't go getting all emotional on us!
  • Can we officially declare the removal of Nardi Contreras as pitching coach a success?  Danny Wright delivered 7.1 innings effort, allowing just three hits.  He struck out six.  Somewhere there is a pitching coach sitting on his sofa holding a stopwatch, shaking his head sadly.
  • Magglio Ordonez was his usual brilliant self.  He had a double and a homer, batting in two of the Sox' three runs.  Is he an all-star?  Of course not.  He plays for the White Sox, silly.
  • Frank Thomas says he's going to come back next season even if the owner slices and dices his salary.  He got a standing ovation from the Sox Fans at Comiskey.  He was 1 for 3 with a ribbie and a walk.
  • The 216 homeruns the Sox hit set a franchise record.  Those are nice but 95 wins would have been nicer.  Save the homerun theatrics for the dolts on the North Side.
  • Don't look now, but the Sox are three games over .500.  Unfortunately they only have three more games to play, and they've been out of the race for nearly three months.  Sox Fans take their cheap thrills wherever they can find them.
  • God Bless Sox Fans.  Nobody in the front office ever will.

Tinkerer Update:
Gasp!  Was that Joe Borchard in left field?
