WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

B-Lowe-n Away!

September 25 vs. Boston

Kenny Williams'
Stress Relief Odometer

Today's Mileage:
"Who needs Joe Crede when I can acquire a 'veteran presence'?"

Know Your Enemy!

Totally Biased
Series Update

Short Take:  Who are the better Sox now?

  • The Sox win another meaningless game, against the Red Sox of Boston, 7-2.
  • It feels good to eliminate someone from the playoffs. If only...
  • Joe Crede was the story in this game, doing nearly everything right. He had a three-run homer, 4 RBI's, and made Kenny Williams look like an idiot again. He also had half the hits of of Derek Lowe.
  • Red Sox pitcher Derek Lowe look less than spectacular in his bid to win 22. He gave up five runs on six hits in seven innings, raising his ERA to a measly 2.58.
  • Jeff Liefer had a solo shot and Magglio Ordonez added his 37th homer of the season.
  • Rocky Biddle pitched well enough to raise his record to 3-4, giving up 1 earned run in five innings. He lowered his ERA to 4.06 and possibly is starting to solidify a spot in the rotation for next year.
  • When less than half the lineup gets a hit, it's a gift if you win.
  • The Red Sox left a staggering 16 men on base. We'll take it when a team screws themselves over.
  • Magglio Ordonez got his seventh stolen base of the season. What happened to the 30-30 guy we were promised?
  • The Sox are now 21-9 since Aug. 24. the face Boston for one more game, and then go to Minnesota for a three-game set to finish the year. Now that the Red Sox are out of playoff contention, it means no Pedro for the rest of the year.

Tinkerer Update:
Harris at second, Liefer in left, Borchard in center, and Olivo riding the pine.

Joe Crede

A three-run homer, three hits, 4 RBI, all with two outs, started two double plays, putting the game out of reach and raising his average to .297. Not bad for a guy who wasn't good enough to be third baseman last year.
