March 10th, from the Associated Press

Eric Chavez homered in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift an Oakland Athletics split-squad team to a 7-6 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday.

Chavez led off the 10th against Amaldo Munoz (0-2) and drove the ball over the right field fence.

Tim McClaskey (1-1) pitched a scoreless 10th to gain the victory.

The A's tied it with a pair of runs off Kelly Wunsch in the ninth. With one out, Jose Flores and Larry Sutton singled. Carlos Mendez followed with a triple down the right-field line.

Dan Wright pitched four strong innings in his first start of the spring for the White Sox.

Paul Konerko had two hits and drove in three runs.

Wright, who appeared in 13 games as a rookie for the White Sox last year, allowed one run on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts as the White Sox saw a three-game winning streak end.

Randy Velarde had three hits -- including a home run and double -- for Oakland.

Cory Lidle, making his third start, allowed his first runs of the spring. He gave up three runs and six hits in four innings.

Aaron Rowland and Tony Graffanino also each had two hits for the White Sox.

Royce Clayton's two-run homer in the first gave Chicago the early lead.

Willie Harris hit a two-out home run in the second to give the White Sox a 3-0 edge.

After Velarde homered in the third, Chicago came back with two runs on Paul Konerko's single in the fifth.

Velarde doubled home a run in the fifth.

The A's added two runs in the eighth on Chavez's groundout, and Terrence Long's double.

Konerko added an RBI single in the ninth.
