March 9th, from

The Chicago White Sox roughed up Arizona pitcher Curt Schilling for eight runs, en route to a 12-7 win in front of 9,572 at Tucson Electric Park.

Curt Schilling was rocked for 8 runs on 10 hits (AP, John Miller)

The first three Chicago batters reached base in the bottom of the first and cleanup hitter Magglio Ordonez cracked a Schilling pitch over the left-field wall for a grand slam and a 4-2 lead.

The White Sox added a run in the second and then chased Schilling with a three-run third inning which gave them an 8-4 lead.

Schilling (0-1) allowed 10 hits in his 2 2/3 innings of relief and afterward called the outing the worst Spring Training performance of his career.

Jon Garland (1-0) started and got the win for Chicago despite allowing four runs in 2 2/3 innings.
