Totally Biased
Series Update

Short Take:  Glover blows lead,  Twins clinch.

  • Sox Fans, it's the first day of the rest of your life.  A Sox loss and a Twinkie win brings down the curtain on one of the ugliest Sox championship runs in recent memory.  The 2002 Sox are officially dead, though they played like it since early May.  The Yankees win 8-4 in a game shortened to six innings by rain.
  • For those of you keeping score at home, that's 85 years since the Sox won a world championship and 43 since their last pennant.  This is the longest drought in the American League, apologies to the self-absorbed jerks in Boston who can't begin to understand REAL PAIN.
  • When the Sox win it all in 2003, Sox Fans will have waited 86 years for a championship.  If not, it will be 87 years.  Then, 88.  And so on and so forth...
  • In his first at-bat, catcher of the future Miguel Olivo hit a three-run shot in the third inning to help starter Gary Glover to a 4-0 lead.  Being Gary Glover, the lead didn't last.
  • Glover got tagged twice in the fourth inning with rocket shot homeruns into that pathetic homerun porch in Yankee Stadium's right field corner.  Anything hit into the lower deck there ought to be a ground-rule double--or only count if the hitter was using a little league regulation bat, 'cause that's what the homerun distance works out to.
  • Glover blew his chance at the win allowing another run in the fifth.  Then Mike Porzio completely melted in relief allowing four earned runs in the sixth.
  • The Good Lord intervened and this season ended.  Tuesday they play again with absolutely nothing on the line but garbage statistics.  That's an annual event for Sox Fans to watch.

WSI's
Tinkerer Update:
Jimenez bounced to SS, Harris back to 2B, Frank in and Olivo debuts.  Play Borchard?  Hahahahahaha!
