Totally Biased
Series Update

Short Take:  Wright brilliant, Sox "O" rolls in Gotham!

  • If winning these September games meant more, Sox Fans could be forgiven cynically wondering if their team wasn't playing well simply to audition for George Steinbrenner's checkbook.  The Sox win for the second consecutive day in Gotham, 8-1 the final over the league champions!
  • Dan Wright dueled Roger Clemens for three scoreless innings, then playing with the lead, proceeded to mow through the Yankees lineup.  He went seven strong, striking out five while walking just one.  His only mistake was a gopher pitch to last night's goat, Alfonso Soriano.  It would take more than that to beat the mighty Sox "O" today!
  • Like Friday's game, a Yankee error came back to haunt the home team.  Jeff Liefer's double-play grounder was misplayed on the initial throw.  That extended the inning for catcher Mark Johnson who slapped a double and plated another run, and Willie Harris to bring home another run on an infield single.  Two unearned runs and a 3-0 lead put the Sox in business.
  •  It was Jeff Liefer pounding one into the seats for a three-run dinger, followed by Joe Crede with a solo shot to stake our Pale Hose to a 7-0 lead.  It sure feels good to hear the pampered and arrogant Yanqui faithful turn on their alleged heroes!
  • Yankee Pride?  Tell your story walking.  You're hated in 50 states.  Deal with it.
  • Wright had trouble in the seventh but bailed himself out with a double-play grounder.  Keith Foulke and Damaso Marte had no trouble polishing off the Stankees the rest of the way.
  • A Sox sweep in Yankee Stadium?  Dream the dream the Sox Fans.  Our Pale Hose take their crack at it Sunday!

Tinkerer Update:
Thomas sits, Lee bats #3, Liefer in LF, and Jimenez at 2B with Harris bounced back to CF.  Is that clear?

Mark Johnson

3 for 4, including a double and a two-out rbi in the key fourth inning rally.  Still batted #8 ahead of "prospect" Willie Harris.
