Gasp!  Yankees lose!

September 13 at New York

"We'd have a better record if we scheduled the A.L. East more."

Know Your Enemy!

Totally Biased
Series Update

Short Take:  Two-hits 3-1!

  • Is there anything more delightful than the sound of New Yorkers turning on the Yankees simply because they lost one lousy baseball game?  Sox win 13-2.  As someone might have said, it was absolutely delicious!
  • A tight 3-2 game was turned into a laugher by two Sox runs in the eighth and eight Sox runs (!) in the ninth.  With the boos and Bronx cheers raining down on his team, you half-expected to hear the announcement George Steinbrenner bought another $30 million free agent between innings.
  • Give major props to the Sox pitching staff.  Rocky Biddle was solid for five innings, and Mike Porzio and Antonio Osuna held the Yankees scoreless the final four innings.  Collectively they struck out 13 Yanquis.
  • Sox Fans' Mediocrity Moment:  with this win, the Sox move to just two games beneath .500.  Yes, then we can all die, right?
  • Kudos to D'Angelo Jimenez, reaching base 3 of 5 times in the leadoff spot.  He also stole a base.  Do you think he wanted to shine against the team that gave up on him?
  • Jose Valentin, Frank Thomas, and Magglio Ordonez got the job done at the top of the order.  "Mighty Joe" Crede was the man at the bottom of the lineup, going 3 for 5.
  • The Yanquis committed three errors, two of them on the same play.  First Alfonso Soriano threw wild going home with to score one run, then Mike Mussina's little league backflip sailed high allowing a second run to score.  What, didn't anybody throw their glove in the air to catch a line shot ball over their head?
  • Saturday's game in on national TV which is never a good sign for Sox Fans.  At least this one ought to be visible on the television after the WCIU technicians made this one look like it was being televised from some third world nation.

Tinkerer Update:
Jimenez at 2B and Valentin at SS batting #1 and #2.  Thomas and Konerko return--and so does Josh Paul.  Lots of versatility!
