Pre-Game Report

Short Take:  Lousy hitting, pitching, and baserunning.  Any questions?

Playing the pathetic Toronto Blue Jays, the Sox couldn't find enough ways to blow their chance at the sweep.  They lose 6-2 and the only question is how they ever managed to tie this game.

Starter Danny Wright fed his gopher in the first inning, but he was hardly the problem.  Sox hitters were making any chance of a Sox victory a moot point.  Magglio Ordonez continued his hitless streak that has lasted this entire road trip with another crash and burn, flaming death 0 for 4 performance.  He even threw in the obligatory strikeout and grounded into a double play.  It's not like Jerry "The Tinkerer" Manuel doesn't have options in the outfield these days to help Maggs get some rest and speed up his bat, but why argue with our genius manager's baseball acumen?

Paul Konerko chipped in his own 0 for 4 performance with a double-play grounder, too.  He added an error to the night's anemic effort by the Sox.  Jose Valentin homered in the sixth, but nobody was on base.  Can't imagine why.  He grounded into a double-play, too.

The Sox got seven hits and five walks, and still managed to get just two runs and strand six runners.  Willie Harris isn't listed in the body count, because he was picked off second base.  This team is clueless on the basepaths.

Why are we sure Gary Pettis and Gary Ward are both laughing to themselves about this?  Maybe because they know job security with the Sox is wrapped around being close pals with the idiot-in-charge, Kenny Williams?  It's Manuel that has to be sweating.

After the Sox tied it in the seventh, it was the Tinkerer who sifted through his bullpen and found the losing formula.  Wright folded, and Mike Porzio tossed a can of gasoline on the fire.  The less said about Matt Ginter, the better.

Cleveland comes to town next to play a series against the Sox that hasn't been this meaningless in ten years.

That's progress, eh Sox Fans?

Tinkerer Update:
Jimenez joins Borchard on the bench.  Finds the losing formula in the bullpen, too..

Willie Harris

2 for 3 in the #9 slot, the only guy to manage as many as two hits off the mighty Blue Jays, he even tied the game.  Yes, he got picked off second, but he didn't ground into a double-play either.  (Yeah, he's a tall midget).
