Short Take:  Jays look worse than Sox!

Seven wins in a row, Sox Fans.  SEVEN!  Okay, the competition has been Tampa Bay, Detroit, and Toronto.  Still, the way the 2002 Sox have played, can they afford to take any team lightly?  Sox win 5-4.  They are two games from .500.

How the hell did we ever fall beneath .500 in the first place?  What a nightmare this season has been.

Rocky Biddle got his first start in the of peripatetic rotation of Jerry "The Tinkerer" Manuel.  The Sox spotted him a two run lead with rbi's by Joe Crede and Willie Harris in the second inning.  Biddle couldn't make it hold up, giving up a two run dinger in the fourth inning before getting chased.

The scored tied, tonight's hero, Jose Valentin delivered a clutch solo homer to spot the Sox the lead 3-2.  Newly-recalled prospect Jon Rauch got the relief call, and some added run support, too.  This time the dinger came from Paul Konerko to make it 4-2 Sox.  Woo hoo!

Rauch shouldn't cry too much.  He's not the first pitcher to get taken deep by Carlos Delgado, and he won't be the last. After that bomb, the scored was tied 4-4 after six.

Time for another clutch hit?  Here comes Manos!  A two-out dinger in the seventh gave the Sox the winning margin.  Yes, the Blue Jays helped out by getting thrown out at home to end the third inning, caught stealing third with one out in the fifth, and getting picked off second base in the ninth.

Hey, has Gary Pettis been giving Toronto baserunning lessons?  Just checking.

Damaso Marte gave Sox Fans heart palpations in the ninth, but he nailed his ninth save just the same.  They go for the sweep on Wednesday.
