Pre-Game Report

Short Take:  Wright survives first inning, Sox roll.

With the union and management reaching a deal in the morning, the Sox made the trip to Detroit to play another meaningless game, this time against the Tigers.  The usual bugaboos effect young Danny Wright, but he survives and the Sox win, 4-3 over the hapless Murder City Kitties.

Well, it beats losing, doesn't it?

Wright was as wild as Motown on Devil's Night--and nearly as dangerous.  He walked two and threw a wild pitch in the first inning, spotting these pigs from Detroit an early 1-0 lead.  Watching Josh "Versatile" Paul catch is a trial in itself.  It was amusing in an evil sort of way to watch him handle Wright, while simultaneously allowing another stolen base.  Why opposing managers don't run on him more is a complete mystery.  Sox Fans, expect the league to catch up with Josh soon enough.

The Not-So Mighty Sox "O" was driven by Aaron Rowand at the top (3 hits, including a triple) and Joe Crede at the bottom (2 hits, a double and a homer).

Golden Goofs are awarded to Royce Clayton (2) and Paul Konerko (1) for leaving runners on base with two out.  A tip of the cap to Carlos Lee for grounding into a double-play, too.  Not enough screw ups for Detroit to take advantage.  They were held to four hits all night.

Wright settled down neatly and Damaso Marte looked effective in relief until giving up a dinger in the ninth.  Too little, too late for this steaming pile of dung from Detroit.  More than sharing George Steinbrenner's money will be required to make these pigs competitive.

As for the Sox?  NOTHING short of ownership change will make them competitive.

Tinkerer Update:
Royce Clayton and his mighty bat plays against lefties!  Hey, he got a hit so he'll play again.
