Thomas returns, Sox run all over Arizona

March 3rd, from

Frank Thomas made his spring debut and drove in two runs as the Chicago White Sox defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks, 7-5, Sunday in front of 11,404 fans at Tucson Electric Park.

Todd Ritchie made his Sox debut, allowing 5 runs in 2 2/3 innings.

Thomas, who missed most of last season due to a torn right triceps muscle, picked up both of his RBIs on sacrifice flies.

Arizona led 5-3 before the White Sox scored two runs in the fourth inning to tie the game. The second run of the inning was unearned after an error by right fielder Erubiel Durazo allowed Kenny Lofton to score.

The White Sox tacked on a run in the fifth on an RBI-single by Royce Clayton and one more in the seventh when Aaron Rowand scored on shortstop Alex Cintron's error.

Bob Howry (1-0) got the win for the White Sox, while Duaner Sanchez (0-1) suffered the loss in relief. Matt Guerrier picked up the save, his first of the spring.
