Pre-Game Report

The Sox have been playing better of late, but facing a lefty, Jerry "The Tinkerer" Manuel refuses to leave well enough alone.  The offense stalls at a critical moment, and Jon Garland becomes the latest victim.  How many times have we seen this happen?  Will the Tinkerer EVER stop screwing around?

The Sox blow a three run lead and lose to Seattle 7-3.  Let's guess together, Sox Fans--who will Kenny Williams and Jerry Reinsdorf blame for this loss?  The answer is as close as the mirror inside your own house.

The top of the line up was juggled.  Willie Harris sits and Tony Graffanino bats leadoff.  Sox Fans are rewarded for this bit of managerial acumen with an 0 for 5 performance with a K.

Joe Crede gets moved up to the #7 slot because Royce Clayton and Josh Paul must be accommodated at the bottom of  the Tinkerer's batting order.  Teamed up with Frank Thomas, Crede and Thomas blow a bases loaded opportunity to bust the game wide open in the fifth inning.  They each make outs to end the inning without a single run scoring.

The bottom three of the Tinkerer's line up (Crede, Clayton, and Paul) struck out four times today.  The Sox stranded nine men on base.

The victim of this mess was Jon Garland.  He had a three hit shutout entering the seventh inning.  A botched grounder by Crede led to three unearned runs, tying the game.

Rocky Biddle and Damaso Marte were used for batting practice and just like that, the Sox were looking like the same stiffs Sox Fans have been expected to pay big league prices to watch all season long.  Defensive specialist Clayton pitched in with a throwing error.  Isn't it time for him to stop crowing about his fielding percentage and plead for more playing time based on his stellar bat?  Oh, brother...

This team truly sucks--starting with the manager, and going up from there.

A perfect 3 for 3 at the plate, plus a walk.  A double, a two-out rbi, and a terrific assist in the field to nail a runner trying to score.
