Pre-Game Report

It's really a shame that Jerry Reinsdorf and Kenny Williams have been so anxious to issue votes of confidence for Jerry "The Tinkerer" Manuel and a fleet of other miscreants that have led directly to the debacle that is the 2002 Sox baseball season.  For clearly, the team has given up on The Tinkerer and there is still two months of baseball left to be played.

The only question left is how low they can go--and how much blame will Jerry Reinsdorf and Kenny Williams have the cajones to try to shift towards their customers.  Well, this outfit didn't become the laughingstock of professional sports because of competence in the front office, did it?  The Sox are blown away by Anaheim.  11-2 was the final and it wasn't even that close.

Danny Wright was chased in the fourth inning.  He was charged with seven runs and nine hits.  Sure it sounds bad, but one of the runs was unearned.  Feel better, Sox Fans?

Anaheim scored each of the first five innings.  It was 10-0 after five innings.  Imagine the Nebraska football team playing McNeese State.  The Haloes pretty much scored at will.

A bases loaded opportunity in  the fourth inning came to nothing when Joe Crede popped out foul to end the inning.  His batting average is now .154.

The Tinkerer had his special left-hander lineup to face Jarrod Washburn.  Willie Harris and Tony Graffanino, the #1 and #2 hitters were a combined 0 for 9, neither reaching base safely all night.

The Sox stranded nine baserunners.  What else is new?  None of the Sox announcers are even pretending to be interested.  Mostly they laugh and seemed amused by it all.

As a punching bag, reliever Matt Ginter was Wright's equal.  He gave up a grand slam to Tim Salmon.  Oh, my God!  We're not even close to ending this nightmare of a season...

Wednesday is full-price night at Comiskey.  Plenty of good seats still available!  Make your checks payable to Jerry Reinsdorf, esq.

Tinkerer Update:
Special Southpaw Wrecking Crew lineup.  They were down 10-0 before reaching paydirt.
