Enquiring Sox Fans want to know!

If only Sox Fans knew...
Last Series vs. Anahiem
  • The Angels won 2 of 3 games from the Sox at Comiskey, May 17-19.
  • The Angels also outscored the Sox, 18-15 in the 3-game set.
Totally Biased Sox Notes
  • This team sucks.
  • Paul Konerko's average continues to plummet.  Since the All-Star Break, PK's average has fallen 24 points (.330 on July 11 to .306 today).
  • Despite the recent struggles, the Sox still have one of the most potent run-scoring attacks in the American League (no, seriously... keep reading).  The White Sox have scored 583 runs, third most in the AL, behind only New York (650) and Boston (610).   They also have the sixth-highest OPS in the league at .772 behind New York (.832), Boston (.805), Minnesota (.787), Texas (.778), and Seattle (.776).
  • Only Kansas City, Texas, and Tampa Bay have given up more runs than the Sox.  The Royals have allowed 597 runs, Texas 617, and Tampa Bay 618.  The Sox have allowed 586.  There's the problem!
Know thy Enemy!
  • Angels lefty Jarod Washburn has been the hottest pitcher in baseball for most of the season.  Since starting the year 0-2 with a 6.00 ERA in his first 3 starts, he's bounced back and right now has a 3.14 ERA (7th lowest in the league), with a 13-3 record.  His 3-1 loss at Seattle on July 27th broke a streak of 6 straight starts that he earned a win dating to a June 22nd win over Milwaukee and was his first loss since April 13th's 7-2 shellacking at the hands of the A's.
  • The Angels are used to winning away from SoCal.  Their 29-22 record on the road is 4th best in the American League behind Boston (37-21), Seattle (33-19), and New York (36-24).
  • The Angels also have a 23-12 record against the AL Central, 3rd best in the AL behind the Yankees (17-3) and the Twins (33-17).
  • The Angels have the secret to success.  Despite having only one regular over .300 (Garret Anderson), the Angels have the 4th best team average in the AL at .276.  They also have a team ERA of 3.84, 3rd best in the AL behind Boston and Seattle.  Their ERA is nearly a point better than our Sox.
What to watch for!
  • How much do the Sox really suck?
  • Will Jerry Manuel REALLY march Todd Ritchie out there in the mound for the third game of the series?
  • After nearly being swept by Tampa Bay, can the Sox save some dignity this series, or will they be humiliated?
  • How many more mistakes can they really make?
