Pre-Game Report

Watching the White Sox lose Thursday night's game in Minnesota begs the obvious question.  "Why?"

In a wasted season filled with management stupidity, ineptitude, and lies, this effort by the Chicago White Sox players might have been the most rancid of them all.  We can only guess they're finally taking their cues from the front office.  They don't give a damned about winning; why should we?

The final was 6-0 Minnesota.  Next time just forfeit and catch the early plane to Tampa, okay?  There is much less embarrassment that way.

Jerry "The Tinkerer" Manuel rolled out his special "Southpaw Wrecking Crew" lineup to face lefty Eric Milton.  True to form, these mongrels rolled over and played dead from the very first pitch.  Leadoff man Tony Graffanino took three straight balls to start the game, and still managed to strikeout.  He finished 0 for 4 with 2 K's.  His effort was a perfect match to #2 dude in the "mighty" Crew, Aaron Rowand, going 0 for 4 with 2 K's, too.

The Tinkerer saw fit to put Carlos Lee back in the #3 hole, obviously because he uses the right-side batter's box rather than the left.  Our confused Panamanian was 0 for 4, as was our confused Venezuelan, Magglio Ordonez.

It's official.  The Sox are incompetent worldwide.  Jerry Manuel ought to put that on his resume.

Eric Milton pitched a complete game 3-hitter, piling up eleven strikeouts while walking NOBODY.  Sure, Sox apologists might note that this was the work of a lazy homeplate umpire trying to catch his own early flight the hell out of the North Woods.  However, even overmatched slug Danny Wright's 8 K's were tempered with 3 walks, seven hits, and five earned runs.

Face it.  This team flat-out sucks--especially with this goofball lineup of the Tinkerer's.

Josh Paul was charged with a passed ball.  He was 0 for 3.  Joe Crede, bless his heart, was 0 for 3--all K's.  Royce Clayton had one of three Sox hits and a strikeout looking.  The Tinkerer probably thinks the guy is just heating up.  At least that's the opinion offered by Darrin Jackson in the TV booth.  Oh, brother...

Obviously the rank odor of this team's effort is reaching the inside of the Sox broadcast booth and making them hallucinate.  If Sox Fans want this sort of nonsense, we'll just tune in Chimp Caray and Joe "Mama" Carter.

The only Sox pitcher not to get scored on.  One inning, one K, one walk.  A real midget of a winning performance from this outfit.
