An every-day complaint

Nobody said Royce Clayton and Jose Valentin had to like the fact the Joe Crede era has begun.

Crede will get a chance to show what he can do at third base for the rest of the season, which means Clayton and Valentin will platoon at shortstop unless one of them is traded.

That would mean the White Sox are paying $9.5 million for their two-headed shortstop. It seems that's no way to run a business, and Clayton and Valentin agree.

"I feel like I've been unjustly put in a situation where I haven't done anything not to merit playing every day,'' Clayton said. "And I'm sure Jose Valentin feels the same way. We both have a gripe, but there's nothing we can do about it.''
