Pre-Game Report

Todd Ritchie lost his league-leading fourteenth game.  As bad as he was, his sucking was just one small piece of a true team effort to lose by our 2002 Dead Sox.  They're nothing but roadkill for the Minnesota Twins, 11-6 the final.  It was much, much worst than the score indicates.

The boos rained down on the Dead Sox from the very start.  Ritchie wasted no time digging a hole for himself.  The Sox were down 3-0 after just two innings.  He came within two feet of giving up a grand slam in the third inning.  But wait, it gets much worse!

Like a homeless three-legged mongrel, the Sox started scratching at the door, scoring one run in the third and answered Ritchie giving up two runs in the fifth, with two runs of their own.   Carlos Lee tagged one deep into the left field seats.  Would the Twins toss these pathetic wretches a bone to chew on?  Fat chance.

With reliever Matt Ginter serving it up, the Twins started teeing off in the sixth.  Six runs later, it was over.  In the time in between, the Sox gave up four hits, one walk, one hit by pitch, a manager ejected for arguing a close play, a pitcher tossed for hitting some slug, and a warning to both benches.

Ah, you can't beat fun at the old ballpark...

How did Gandhi look when stirred to anger?  We'll never no for sure, but here's betting Jerry Manuel did a pretty good impersonation.  How does A.J. Pierzikkickuipioski look when he gets hit in the elbow pad on a pitch four inches inside?  Like the crybaby he and his fellow misfit teammates always look.

Here's a suggestion, you crybabies.  When you're running away with the division, try behaving like you deserve to be there.

Nothing but crap the rest of the way.  Frank Thomas picked up a dead-center dinger, and the Sox managed a pair of meaningless runs in the ninth.  Everybody on the Sox need to tidy up their resumes for next season.
