To the delight of 39,257 at Camden Yards, Howry (0-2) got into trouble in the final inning by allowing a leadoff double to Tony Batista that just missed going over the fence in left field by a few feet. After getting Howie Clark to pop out and intentionally walking Marty Cordova, Howry allowed the game-ending hit to Fordyce, the former Sox catcher, concluding the 4 hour, 52-minute marathon.
