Pre-Game Report

Todd Ritchie blew this ballgame, his thirteenth of the year, the worst of any pitcher in the major leagues.

Todd Ritchie will be trotted out to the mound every fifth day because Sox management is way, way, WAY too stubborn to ever admit when they make a mistake.

Todd Ritchie can't be dropped in the rotation because the Sox have at least two other pitchers in way over their head trying to pitch every fifth day already.

Todd Ritchie has gotten absolutely no help fixing the flaws in his mechanics, but there isn't a thing anybody in Sox management is taking responsibility for--let alone losing their job over.

Todd Ritchie gave up eight earned runs, and twelve hits in this game.  He couldn't even make it out of the sixth inning.  Some force of God finally kicked Jerry Manuel hard in the seat of the pants, compelling him to finally leave the dugout and go get him.

The highlight of this game was the Kaufmann Stadium operations team serenading Todd Ritchie with "Na Na, Hey Hey, Kiss 'em Good-bye" as he walked off the field to the showers.  Their team is 18 games under .500, but even they feel cocky after beating up this worthless slug.

That's what this season has come to.  Being humiliated in Kansas City.  Is there anybody in the world more hated than Jerry Reinsdorf?  Would somebody in the Sox organization please tell him he can't take his money with him?

Down 8-3, the pathetic attempt of a Sox comeback fell two runs short.  The final was 8-6.  The Sox never scored after the seventh inning.  Everybody drawing a paycheck on both the Sox' TV and radio team sounded like pathetic shills attempting to overlook the painfully obvious facts everyone in their audience knows, assuming they possess a functioning brain stem.

Namely that the 2002 White Sox are going nowhere, and the franchise itself is sick.  Very, very sick.  The Sox are pissing off the last handful of fans they haven't already chased off.  They have entered a death spiral that the people running the show are clueless to pull out of.

Where are the calls for the "first-class organization" Jerry Reinsdorf promised in 1981?  You'll never hear the truth listening to these people.

Whoops, I forgot.  It's our fault the Sox suck.  This is what Peter Gammons thinks is a "brilliantly marketed" ball team.

Never mind.

4 for 5 including three doubles.  Don't look now, but Carlos Lee is sucking in the #3 slot.  Not as easy as it looks, is it?
