Pre-Game Report

Inside
JERRY'S HEAD

Why did the White Sox lose this game 6-5 in Minnesota?  Farmer & Rooney, Hawk & D.J. might only be feigning inability to put their finger on the obvious reason.  They've got jobs to protect.  Sox Fans, we're not pulling punches in this space.

The Sox lost this game because Todd Ritchie has sawdust for brains.  One run, the one allowed in the fifth, sums up what a complete loser this "veteran presence" has become.

Nobody knew that run would be so critical.  It was the sixth run Minnesota scored in the game.  Once Ritchie was finally pulled from the game, the Twinkies wouldn't score again.  He had already laid in several fat pitches when ahead in the count and with two out.  Typical crap from this loser.

And like so many other times this season, the anemic Sox offense digs and scratches for a run in the top of an inning, only to see a head case like Ritchie give the runs right back in the bottom of the frame.  "Veteran Presence" did that trick in the second inning and again in the fifth.  It was that second time that lost this game.  Yes, the entire rally began after two out.

This guy is worthless.  Absolutely worthless.

Carlos Lee went downtown twice for solo shot dingers, the only offense the Sox mustered through the first six innings.  The team showed heart and began to claw back, scoring two runs in the seventh.  They did this despite 0-fer performances by both Magglio Ordonez and Paul Konerko batting in the middle of the order.

With the middle of the lineup dead, and the top of the lineup limping along with Ken Lofton's pulled hamstring, it was the bottom of Jerry "The Tinkerer" Manuel's lineup that picked up the slack.  Lee, Mark Johnson, and Royce Clayton scored four of the Sox' five runs.

A two out rally in the ninth was aided by the pigs from Minnesota.  Their closer was so wild, you half-expected him to pull off his disguise and reveal his true identity as Keith Foulke.  Clayton, Lofton, and Ray Durham each reached on walks.  Frank Thomas collected his second hit of the night to score Clayton and the Sox pulled within one run of tying the game.

That's where it ended.  Magglio Ordonez was the third Sox to popup and the game ended.  That fifth inning run "Veteran Presence" Ritchie gave up was the difference, the sixth earned run he allowed.  Just enough to lose.

The Sox have lost 2 of 3 in a series they needed to win at least 3 of 4.  They're losing ground, not gaining it.  Does anybody give a damned?

Sure they do.  But nobody is going to do a damned thing about it.  It's OUR fault Todd Ritchie and the rest of them suck.   Remember?
