Buehrle, Konerko lead Sox to win

If only the White Sox could clone Mark Buehrle, there's no telling how far this team could go.

But they will have to make do with one Buehrle for now, and one was enough to get them through a 6-1 victory over Philadelphia on Thursday afternoon at Veterans Stadium.

Paul Konerko's three-run homer in the first provided all the runs the Sox needed for Buehrle to win his 10th game while giving up one run on six hits in 8 1/3 innings. Coming on the heels of Wednesday's crushing loss, the victory on getaway day had added significance.

``(The Sox) showed me something today,'' manager Jerry Manuel said. ``They could've gone through the motions (after Wednesday's loss).''

The Sox took two of three in Philadelphia, their first victory in a road series since taking two of three in Boston on May 20-22. But they would have had a sweep if the bullpen didn't blow a two-run, ninth-inning lead in Wednesday's 4-3 defeat.

They are games behind Minnesota and head to Atlanta for a three-game series with the red-hot Braves before their four-game showdown in the Metrodome.
