Enquiring Sox Fans want to know!

If only Sox Fans knew...
Last Series vs. Atlanta
  • This is the first time the Sox and Braves have ever met.
Totally Biased Sox Notes
  • Kenny Lofton's average continues to plummet.  On April 20th, he was hitting .397.  Two months later, his averaged has dropped over 120 points.
  • Todd Ritchie is the only projected Sox starter to have ever faced the Braves in his career.  In 6 games, he has posted a 1-3 record with a 3.63 ERA (14 ER in 34.2 IP)
  • Speaking of Ritchie, he has been anything but a road warrior this year.  He has a 1-5 record on the road, while has posted a 3-3 record at Comiskey.  The other projected starters, Gary Glover and Dan Wright are 0-1 and 3-2 on the road this year, respectively.
  • Turner Field averages 31,514 per game, and we all know how the Sox do before big crowd.s
Know thy Enemy!
  • What's new with the Braves?  They can still pitch, that's for sure.  The Sox will face Tom Glavine, who's 1.71 ERA is currently the best in the bigs.  The Braves, as a team have a 3.05 ERA, also, lowest in the bigs.
  • Glavine's home ERA is nearly a point higher than his overall ERA, however.  At Turner Field this year, Glavine has posted a 2.55 ERA and a 5-2 record.  The other two Atlanta starters (Moss and Marquis) have posted a 2-0 and 3-2 record at home this year.
  • Glavine is also the only Brave starter to ever face any current members of the White Sox before in his career.  He has faced Royce Clayton, Paul Konerko, and Jose Valentin.  The three are a combined 1-8, the only hit being a single by Manos.  Konerko also has 1 K against Tom.
  • The Braves aren't the best hitting team in the world, however.  Their team average of .255 is 12th overall in the 16-team NL.
What to watch for!
  • Will Todd finally break out of his slump?
  • Will a return to Atlanta, Kenny Lofton's former home, break him out of his slump?
  • Will Jerry Manuel stop using his entire bullpen every game?
  • Can Royce get his average up to .210 for the first time since May 9?
