Struggling Sox fall again

When Kansas City rookie Miguel Asencio threw 16 straight balls in his major-league debut April 6, White Sox starter Mark Buehrle said it was difficult to watch.

"We couldn't believe it was happening," Buehrle said afterward.

"We were actually feeling sorry for the guy, even though he was walking our guys and we were scoring runs. You never want to see a guy do that bad."

Buehrle wasn't feeling too sorry for Asencio on Tuesday night at Comiskey Park, not after the Royals right-hander shot down the Sox's offense in a 3-2 win before an announced crowd of 13,063.

Asencio held the Sox to one run on four hits in 61/3 innings, outpitching Buehrle for his first major-league victory.

"The kid has got guts," Royals closer Roberto Hernandez said. "He's not afraid. A 21-year-old out of `A' ball, and in his first major-league game he can't throw a strike. Then he comes back against the same team and gives up one run in 61/3 innings. He's going to be a good one."
