Blooping and blasting the night away

July 25 at Minnesota

Daily Sox Crop Report:
Big barrel of mash
Abreu hits his 30th homer of the year, the rest of the lineup follows suit

Short Take:   Sox score the most runs since May 9, smash Minnesota

The Twins are crappy, they are perpetual losers.

If there was any lingering doubt about the Twins perpetual crappiness and losing-ness, the Sox should have removed it tonight with their 9-5 victory.

The scoreboard says the White Sox won by four runs, but it was never really that close. The Sox scored three in the first, two in the third and the fourth, and then kept the good times rolling into the sixth and seventh too.

And it wasn't just that the Sox scored, and they scored a lot, it was how they scored.

There were the massive home runs off the bats Abreu, Ramirez and Flowers but there was also guys shortening their swings and stringing together hits. My favorite example of this came in the fourth.

Ramirez led off with a walk and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Adam Dunn then just flared a ball into left field against the shift. It was a thing of beauty. Don't get me wrong, the ball barely cleared the infield dirt but it was the sort of thing that could make teams think twice about shifting so frequently with guys in scoring position.

But the fun didn't stop there!

Dunn advanced to second on a wild pitch that was in the left handed batter's box. That in and of itself wasn't so remarkable, but for some reason Dayan Viciedo swung at that pitch. It was the kind of swing that you'd expect from a guy whose 5 for his last 50. What you wouldn't expect is for that same guy to take the next pitch and park into right field just out of the reach of the second baseman.

That, of course, is exactly what Viciedo did on the next pitch to bring Dunn in from second. Connor Gillaspie kept the line moving with a single that barely went 40 feet. The inning ended there but the scoring didn't.

Tyler Flowers showed that four eyes are better than two with a massive home run in the seventh for the Sox ninth run. You have to go back to the series in Colorado in early May for the last time the Sox scored that many runs.

The Twins eventually managed five runs, but it was in garbage time, proving my original point:

The Twins are crappy, they are perpetual losers. Can we play them every series?

WSI's
The Futures Market:
Buy! As long as they keep playing the Twins at least.
