WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

Go Figure

June 21 at Kansas City

Today's Game Rating:
4 Stars
The Sox attacked and bombed Kansas City early and often.

Short Take:   Something possessed the White Sox offense as they cruised to a 9-1 victory.

Going into Kansas City, the White Sox had lost 7 of 8, 17 of their last 21, and just got swept by the hapless Twins. With the season in a complete freefall, it wasn't looking any better with a horrid White Sox offense facing Jeremy Guthrie for Kansas City. I'm guessing the stars aligned as we bombed Guthrie. Hector Santiago pitched great and the Sox won 9-1.

We quickly got two off of Guthrie in the top of the first thanks three walks in the inning to De Aza, Dunn and Konerko.

With it still 2-0 in the top of the third, the floodgates opened against Guthrie. Hits by Alexei, Rios, and Dunn made it a 4-0 game. After giving up a fourth hit in the inning, Guthrie was taken out and replaced with Bruce Chen. I couldn't believe my eyes, we got to one Sox killer, but now we had to face another in Chen? Well, Dayan Viciedo made sure there were no letdowns as he greeted Chen with a three-run bomb to make it a 7-0 game. All this against Cy Guthrie and Cy Chen, in the same game? It must be a sign of the apocalypse.

The Sox cruised from there beyond Hector Santiago. Santiago pitched eight strong innings giving up only one run, a solo homer to Eric Hosmer.

Alejandro De Aza finished the scoring for the Sox in the sixth with a two-run shot off of Chen to complete blowout.

We continue the series in KC on Saturday, June 22nd at 1:10 p.m. Jose Quintana (3-2, 3.86 ERA) faces Wade Davis (4-5, 5.18 ERA). The game will be on CSN.

Hawk and Stoney's Thumb Guide:
Hawk: "Thumbs up, tonight we had the TWTW, LOL, LMFAO." Stone Pony: "Two thumbs up, we actually put the bat on the ball tonight and outscored our opposition by eight runs meaning Santiago held them to fewer runs than the Sox."
