Sox Unable to Solve Dickey

April 18 at Toronto

Today's Game Rating:
1
One run, one star.

Short Take:   Sox cannot figure out Dickey as they drop series finale

Yet again the White Sox found themselves unable to pick up a series win. They split this four-game series with the Blue Jays when they lost 3-1 tonight.

Chris Sale didn't have his best stuff to start off the game. In the first, he allowed a leadoff single to Rajai Davis who stole not only second but also third. He scored on an Edwin Encarnacion single to left. Sale settled down until the fifth. He hit Emilio Bonifacio who ended up at third after a throwing error by Sale. His pick-off attempt hit the dirt and went past Adam Dunn who was playing first tonight. Bonifacio scored after Dunn's fielding error. Later that inning, Davis hit an RBI double that gave the Blue Jays a 3-0 lead.

Sale didn't allow a run after that, and he ended his night after pitching seven innings. He allowed three runs, two of which were earned, on four hits and a walk. He also struck out six. Nate Jones pitched a perfect eighth, striking out one.

Sox batters had an off night. And that's putting it lightly. They managed to pick up just four hits and a walk tonight, as they couldn't figure out Blue Jays starter RA Dickey. Alex Rios, Dayan Viciedo, Alexei Ramirez and Tyler Flowers were the only ones who picked up hits, and Paul Konerko picked up the lone walk. Flowers had the lone RBI, as he doubled Ramirez home in the eighth.

The Sox head home to face the Twins. Jake Peavy takes the mound for the Sox. He had a dominant performance against the Indians in his last start. He struck out 11 and didn't issue a walk. He faces off against Vance Worley. Worley's last start was abysmal. He gave up nine runs, seven earned, on seven hits against the Mets. He lasted just one inning in that start, the shortest of his three-year career. The game airs on CSN+ at 7:10 tomorrow night.

WSI's
Hawk and Stoney's Thumb Guide:
STONE: Thumbs down, Hawk. No run support for Chris Sale. HAWK: Dadgumit, I have to agree. Thumbs down. I should have just stayed home.
