WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

Rump Rangered

August 19th vs Texas

Levels Finished:

Sox started out well, but too many homers killed us in the end.

Short Take:   Sox jumped out to an early lead, but Peavy gave up three homers to a superior offense...and you know the rest. Sox lose 7-4, news at 11.

For what feels like the millionth time this season, the Sox reached .500 only to toy with our emotions and lose a series to Cleveland to fall back below .500. After the Sox did their usual disappearing run act the last two games by scoring a grand total of three lousy runs, we got the delight of welcoming the hottest team in the American League. At 61-62, I'm sure Ron Washington and the Texas Rangers came into town not scared of our weak team.

And...they weren't. Texas kindly let us get out to 3-0 lead only to see Peavy give up that lead while Texas had their way with us in beating the Sox 7-4 Friday night.

As has often happened the season, we looked good early. In the bottom of the first, Juan Pierre reached on a bunt and Paul Konerko drew a walk. Carlos Quentin drilled a double to left, scoring Pierre to make it 1-0. Konerko then scored on an Alexei Ramirez single to make it 2-0.

With the Sox up 3-0 in the top of the fourth, Peavy decided he didn't need to pitch well. Michael Young singled and then scored on a Nelson Cruz double to put the Rangers on the board. Jake, of course, then walked Mike Napoli. Rangers DH, Mitch Moreland, followed that up with a three-run bomb to left to put Texas up 4-3.

We would tie the score at 4 on a sac fly by Brent Lillibridge in the fifth. Peavy and the Sox offense would suck from there.

Reigning American League MVP, Josh Hamilton, took Jake deep in the top of the sixth to make it 5-4 Texas. After a Napoli single, Mitch Moreland hit a two-run jack to right, his second homer of the game off of Peavy to make the score 7-4.

Peavy's night was done to the tune of seven runs on six hits, five strikeouts, two walks, and three homers in six innings. His craptastic night put his record at 5-6.

We could do nothing with the Texas bullpen while Neftali Feliz recorded his 25th save of the season to close things out. Tyler Flowers must've hung out with Adam Dunn last night as he recorded the golden sombrero with four strikeouts. He was our zero of the game.

If you want to stomach more of this horse manure, the fun continues tomorrow, August 20th at 6:10 p.m. Johnny Danks (5-9, 3.95 ERA) will face Alexi Ogando (12-5, 3.33 ERA). You can watch it on WGN.

WSI's
Ozzio's Game Rant:
"Maybe Peavy got injured again. I wouldn't know as during the game I was looking at real estate listings for south Floreeda."
